According to the Illinois Department of Public Aid, wide ranges of dental services are available to children under the age of 20. However, only limited "emergency" services are available to adults over 21. "Emergency" services are those needed to treat pain with the teeth, palate, or any other problem that requires immediate attention and is appropriately treated by a dentist. This generally includes extractions, fillings, and crowns. Dentists may also make referrals to oral surgeons who will accept payment from Public Aid.
